ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has rejected the reference filed by Awami Muslim League (AML) leader Sheikh Rashid for disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Speaker NA rejected the reference on the basis of inadequate evidences. Following the footsteps of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on August 16 had submitted a disqualification reference against PM Nawaz to the Speaker National Assembly.
Rashid had filed the 162-page disqualification reference against the prime minister under Article 63(2) of the Constitution, which was prepared on the basis of the Panama Papers’ revelations.
With the disqualification reference, Sheikh Rashid had attached the documents of the prime minister’s nomination paper and annual statements of the prime minister for the year 2014 and 2016.
