LAHORE: Justice Shujaat Ali Khan of the Lahore High Court Wednesday gave time to the Punjab government until May 4 to filing a reply in a petition against appointment of Punjab Information and Culture Secretary Jehangir Anwar.
The court observed that it might issue an order on the next date of hearing that Jehangir Anwar should not be given salary for the post of secretary information.
Counsel for petitioner Sheraz Zaka contended that the information secretary had splashed out billions on the advertisement campaign of ruling party. He said that Jehangir was a BS-18 officer and had been illegally appointed information and culture secretary in Grade-20.
He said that Jehangir had been made additional director general of the Public Relations Department in violation of service rules. He requested the court to declare appointment of Jehangir Anwar illegal.
