DUSHANBE: Tajikistan and Pakistan on Wednesday stressed the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation in combating terrorism, extremism, drug production and transnational crimes.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Chairmen Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of Pakistan General Zubair Mahmood Hayat at a meeting in Dushanbe discussed a wide spectrum of issues concerning political, social and economic cooperation between the two countries.
President Rahmon expressed satisfaction over the friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation between the countries, which were strengthening with each passing day due to the efforts of the heads of the two states.
Booth leaders discussed strengthening of relations between Tajikistan and Pakistan in security and defense sectors besides bilateral military and technical cooperation in order to address regional challenges and to find ways to address the political and military situation in Afghanistan.
During the meeting, the two leaders also exchanged views on the course of implementation of project for construction of high voltage power transmission line ‘??SA-1000’ and the use of extensive hydropower potential of Tajikistan.
