LAHORE: Former P
akistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shahryar Khan has said he did not believe that P
akistan and India would be able to play against each other in the near future.
During an interview, the former PCB chairman said the real re
ason behind the absence of bilateral series between India and P
akistan was political and “had nothing to do either with the
PCB or the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)”.
“In the current political climate, I do not believe that P
akistan and India will play against each other in any time soon,” s
aid Shahryar.
BCCI is not against the Pak-India series, but they have to get permission from the go
vernment of India, s
aid Shahryar.
He said that P
akistan was ready to play with India at any venue, but it was Indian go
vernment who did not allow their team to play with P
akistan.
Commenting on the upcoming edition of the P
akistan Super League (PSL), the former PCB chairman termed the PSL as a “fantastic product”, adding the league is telling the world that their players can come to P
akistan without any fear of security.
