KARACHI: Prime Mini
ster Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has in
augurated the much-awaited Lyari Expr
essway project.
The southb
ound portion of the expr
essway became operational a decade ago whereas the north section had been delayed for almost 15 years.
Following its formal in
auguration today, the whole 38 km expr
essway will be opened for vehicular traffic.
The Rs10 billion project includes four interchanges; Sohrab Goth, Manghopir, Sir Shah Suleman and Maripur.
Addressing the in
auguration ceremony, PM Abbasi sa
id that Karachi belonged to all of us and there was much more to do for the city.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Governor Mohammad Zubair, and senior military and civilian government officials also attended the ceremony.
PM Abbasi is expected to hold meetings with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Sindh officials.
He will leave for Gawadar tomorrow to chair an important meeting to review development projects in the province.
