ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has introduced a colouring book with a purpose to convey message of anti-corruption across the country.
The book on ‘Say no to Corruption’ has been specially designed by National College of Arts for primary level children in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
A launching ceremony for the purpose was held on Thursday and was attended by NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, NCA principal, JICA chief representative, Education advisor, Education Ministry director general, Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education secretary and representatives of prominent public and private schools.
NAB chairman, on the occasion, said that the children hold the future of Pakistan and will grow up to be leaders in different fields. “What our children are going to be in future is what we make them today,” he said and added, “This is the reason NAB has taken this initiative of introducing colouring book for children.”
In a bid to re-emphasise its commitment towards eradication of corruption NAB would involve children through their teachers at an early age as the colouring book uniquely examines the factors that contribute to various forms of corruption and will go a long way in changing mind-set and perception of our future generation towards corruption, Zaman said.
The chairman said that it would greatly help in sensitising the children against the effects of corruption and added, “Today, this ceremony underlines our continued commitment to eradicate corruption from Pakistan.”
He said the bureau – being an apex anti-corruption agency of Pakistan – is striving hard for eradication of corruption through a holistic three pronged strategy of ‘Awareness, Prevention and Enforcement’.
The Awareness and Enforcement process when energised with enforcement and prosecution will ensure that possibility of abuse of authority is substantially reduced and corruption is ultimately curbed.
He appreciated and thanked JICA for sponsoring the books and also NCA for designing the master-piece. The talents demonstrated by students of NCA in making the colouring books shows that they have the potential to be useful citizens.
The participants appreciated NAB’s initiative and unanimously said that the eradication of corruption is an ultimate goal and every one must play his role. The ceremony ended with firm resolve to carry task of anti-corruption in the country.
