KARACHI: Eligible candidates for the post of teachers staged a protest outside the Karachi Press Club on Monday against the excessive delay in their appointments by the Sindh Education Department.
The protestors, carrying banners and placards, chanted slogans, like ‘stop killing merit’ against the Sindh Education Department and demanded issuance of the appointment orders.
This protest was organised by the qualified candidates for the post of the headmasters and headmistress. The Sindh Education Department had to recruit head teachers through a transparent testing system, but it has failed to issue the appointment letters to 1080 candidates who had cleared the written test and interview.
A report regarding the appointments of 1080 headmasters/mistress was also mailed to the World Bank in May 2016. The protestors asked Sindh PPP’s chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah and education minister Sindh Jam Mehtab Dahr to issue the appointment orders to the eligible candidates as the new academic year has began.
They also said that they will hold demonstration outside the CM House if appointment orders are not issued soon.
