KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department said on Sunday that a spell of rain and snow is expected to hit the country between Monday and Thursday.
According to the Met Office, the upcoming wave of rain and snow would be much more intense than the previous one. The Met Office further said that usually the winter season in Pakistan is dominated by snow, but this time it will most likely be dominated by rain.
Moreover, a fresh system of winds has entered Balochistan which would likely trigger cold weather and rainfall in various parts of the country.
The Met Office further said that the mountains of Quetta, Zhob and Kalat are likely to be blanketed in snow during the coming week. Furthermore, heavy snow is expected in the mountains in Murree, Galyat, Hazara, Malakand and Kashmir.
In Karachi, there is a likelihood of rainfall on Monday and Tuesday. The Met Office has also warned of landslides occurring in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
People are advised to follow the necessary precautionary measures suggested by the National Disaster Management Authority and National Highway Authority in case they have to travel during the rain.
